Some people remember the rides. Some remember the showbags. Others remember the animals, the fireworks, the smell of hot jam donuts, or holding someone’s hand through the crowd.

For many Victorians, the Melbourne Royal Show is a tradition passed down through generations. Each year, thousands of families come to create moments that stay with them long after the gates close.

Behind these experiences is a dedicated community of volunteers who help bring the Show to life.

Our volunteers assist with all aspects of the Show from greeting visitors to supporting popular activations. They bring excitement, passion and joy to one of Victoria’s most loved events.

“Being a volunteer team leader at the Melbourne Royal Show was an amazing experience. Watching the joy on every patron’s face as I helped to deliver such a wonderful event was a great feeling, and being able to support and empower volunteers to do the same was very rewarding. Can’t wait for next year!”

Deon Wentworth, Melbourne Royal Show Volunteer

“Volunteering at the Melbourne Royal Show was an absolute blast! Speaking with the families attending the Show, hearing what the Show means to them and working closely with other volunteers was great. On top of meeting so many great people throughout my shifts, volunteering at an event of such a massive size gave me a greater appreciation of how important it is to cover everything, for every situation, which I truly believe that the Melbourne Royal event staff do.”
