The Melbourne Royal Alpaca Competition showcases and benchmarks some of the best alpacas and alpaca fleece from around Australia.

With more than 5,000 classes, 3,700 entries and 200 breeds, the All Breeds Championship Show provides the opportunity for handlers to benchmark their breed, from Afghan Hounds to Yorkshire Terriers. The highly entertaining Action Dog Program features Rally, Obedience, Agility, Jumping and Games designed to test the abilities and stamina of the most skilful canines and their handlers.

In 2023, the Melbourne Royal Show Poultry Competition hosed 1200 chickens, ducks, and turkeys, showcasing some of the fanciest poultry in the country.

Some of the most educated chooks in the country compete in the Schools Poultry Egg Laying Competition. This event features chickens that have been raised in primary and secondary schools, all the way from pullets to egg-laying hens, as part of their agriculture curriculum.

Celebrating the best of the Australian sheep industry, the All Breeds Sheep Interbreed is a true spectacle of the Melbourne Royal Show agricultural offering. With the best sheep from each breed vying for the title of Interbreed Champion, come and see Australia’s best sheep breeders show off their sheep and celebrate 12 months of passion and hard work.
