That’s a wrap: Day 8 at the Melbourne Royal Show

Competitors really took the bull by the horns today! Day 8 of the Melbourne Royal showcased the impressive strength of award-winning cattle breeds alongside the grace and agility of champion dogs, highlighting the passion and dedication of breeders and exhibitors alike.

Brad Jenkins, Chief Executive Officer, Melbourne Royal, praised the dedication and enthusiasm of breeders and exhibitors who make the effort every year to attend the prestigious Melbourne Royal.

“Today was a testament to the dedication of our breeders and their passion for the industry,” he remarked. “We are incredibly fortunate to showcase the highest calibre of livestock breeders in the country, and it fills me with pride every year to see these exhibitors set new standards of excellence.”

“The Waterford Charolais Youth Team Challenge Trophy tonight brought yet another level of energy and excitement to the show,” said Mr Jenkins. “These young competitors are the future of agriculture, honouring Garnet Halliday’s legacy and proving that the values of hard work and commitment are in good hands.”

Waterford Charolais Youth Team Challenge Trophy
From 5:00pm to 7:30pm, the prestigious Waterford Charolais Youth Team Challenge Trophy, honouring the memory of Garnet R. Halliday, took place. Established in 2007, this award celebrates the commitment and skill of young breeders in the Charolais cattle industry.
The challenge showcases teams competing in various tasks that test their knowledge, handling skills and teamwork, all while emphasising the exceptional qualities of the Charolais breed, known for its meat production and strong maternal instincts.
