The eggs-traordinary Schools Poultry Egg Laying Competition is where students learn valuable skills while caring for young poultry. The judging of poultry, eggs and display of posters are a unique opportunity for Show visitors to witness the student's hard work and dedication firsthand.

Witness Students Hard Work and Dedication Raising Chickens First-hand
In 2023, the Melbourne Royal Poultry Competition and exhibition has a dedicated pavilion for the entire 11 days of the Show, with exhibitors all vying to win a Melbourne Royal blue ribbon.
Some of the most educated chooks in the country competed in the Schools Poultry Egg Laying Competition. This event featured chickens raised in primary and secondary schools, all the way from pullets to egg-laying hens, as part of their agriculture curriculum.
Each school was judged on poultry knowledge, their poster display and egg laying capacity over the 11-day period and it was eggs-traordinary great fun!
