Royal Melbourne Show Update25 September, 2019
26 September, 2019 Update:
Following an extensive investigation into the incident that occurred on The Fury on Tuesday 24th September, WorkSafe Victoria engineers have concluded there was no issue with the operation of the ride and the cause of the injury is unknown.
The health and safety of all visitors to the Royal Melbourne Show is our number one priority and for this reason, it has been decided that The Fury will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show.
As a precaution, WorkSafe has issued a notice to the ride operator to add an additional safety apparatus to the ride before it is allowed to operate again.
25 September, 2019 Statement:
It is with great concern that the Royal Melbourne Show can confirm that there was an injury sustained on “The Fury” ride at approximately 5:30pm yesterday. Paramedics on-site treated a primary school-aged girl for an arm injury. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
We commend the swift and professional response of our emergency services team on-site.
The health and safety of all visitors to the Royal Melbourne Show is our number one priority.
We are working closely with the ride operator, WorkSafe Victoria and independent engineers to investigate the issue further.
The ride was shut down immediately and will remain closed until the investigation is complete.
Our main concern is the well-being of the individual involved and her family.
