For some children, the Royal Melbourne Show is the first opportunity to get up close to farm animals and learn about life on the land. It is also an invaluable opportunity to learn about the source of food and fibre.

Kids can watch the professionals shear a sheep or milk a cow in engaging and educational shows and then give it a go themselves, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

They will have the opportunity to learn about different grains, where they come from and what they are used for. Grain-grinding stations will give littlies an up-close, interactive look into some of Victoria’s most important crops.

There are also endless opportunities to get up close to hundreds of farm animals. You can pat a chook, brush a pig and feed baby animals.

In the centrally located Animal Farmyard, you will see more animals than ever living in paddocks as they would at home. Friendly Farmer Darryl will be available to answer questions about life on the farm and share his tips for caring for cows, sheep, alpacas, poultry and more!

The Royal Melbourne Show blue ribbon competitions see competitors travel from across Victoria and around the country. Visitors to the Show can watch a number of prestigious competitions including cattle, horses, sheep and more. This is an opportunity to see the cream of the crop - real prize-winning animals up close.

For an unforgettable experience of life on the farm, bringing the country to the city, visit the Royal Melbourne Show this September. Tickets on sale now.
